A nice Audio/Video Pinout diagram for the Gamecube:

this was a useful post by squee that helped me save a little time

Just cut of the controller end, and look at where the wires attach to the GC.honey wrote:where in your diagram is the (+) and the (-) for the gamecube? or where on controller wired the gamecube (+) and (-).
what a kid of controller mean you?
EDIT: Never mind, I'll post a schematic soon.
EDIT 2:
Here it is. Connect all the spots where the exposed metal on the controller port one went into the controller circuit board. Then connect that mass of wires to the bundle of exposed wires on the outside, and in the middle of the controller wire.
Remember, this diagram is when looking at the GC controller port one, from the front.
If i got that correct, then this should also be correct:
Btw, that is the backside of the Controller Board Hope this helps.
EDIT: Please switch the Blue and White. I will edit the picture ASAP! I hope i didnt fry any controllers

Just spent the past hour making this.
Feel free to host it here or on some resource, but keep my name on it.
If there are any problems with it, let me know.
That's one of my first contributions and hopefully it will be useful to some people.
Just on a note though, Pin 5 (The Silver one) only appears on Controllers 1 and 2. Does anyone know why it doesn't go back to the cube on Controllers 3 and 4? Perhaps something like the Gamecube checks to see if Controller 1 and 2 are plugged in for game features but doesn't give a crap if 3 or 4 are plugged in? Or could it be for additional peripherals such as Dance Mat which is only 2 player anyway?

I need the pin out on both the DVD controller and the motherboard connection to the DVD controller. I just ripped up about 5 of the traces on the DVD unit .. They looked desoldered, but now I need to track each of the traces and solder directly to those instead. Hell!

I reversed the controller board myself about a month ago, and wondered the same thing. A patent search reveals that lightguns can be plugged into ports 1 and 2.EnterTheHatrix wrote:Just on a note though, Pin 5 (The Silver one) only appears on Controllers 1 and 2. Homebrew lightgun anyone?
Update:
I made a request for pinout on the DVD unit and mobo connection.
I made a quick diagram of the DVD unit front and back so if you rip the traces like I did, you now have an alternative soldering point.
Sorry about the crude drawing.
This is the top left of the board so you know which way round it goes.
The grey circles are soldering points. The black outlines are the traces. The green circle outlines are the holes that lead to the other side of the board. The Green square outlines are the soldering points that are in tact (or that you ripped up like in my case) on the other side of the board.
And in reverse order.
green parts are on the other side of the PCB.
I decided not to number these to save confusion if there's already some documentation online which it may conflict with. I will try and do the pin numbering from the mobo side next, and I'll do a nicer diagram of both boards with the proper pin outs.
