soldering onto the radica gloptop board

Post by Neo_Weapon »

I am trying to connect wires from tact buttons onto the gloptop board, however, the solder won't stick to it. How did Ben make his wires stick to the board with solder?

You have to scratch the paint off the traces so it's bare metal. then you can solder on it. As for Ben really I thought he did the basic controller hack mod, it's talked about it the SNES/PSone/N64 and this forum.

I see. Well, my attempt fail even after i sand down the paint to reveal the metal. I hook up my tact button to the gloptop board and soldered the colored wires that came oringinally from the gloptop board to the radica. I turned on the radica and i had visual and audio but the tact button failed. Nothing happen. I noticed some small white strings along with small brown metal strings when i stripped the color wires. What were these white strings?? Am I doing anything wrong with the wiring?

I had a type of problem like this, first take ANY knife, but not too sharp or big, and just SCRAPE in a medium strength/motion until that green area, is brown with copper lines. Solder to the copper lines (exposed trace), it's the point that sticks. And about tact...have you grounded or put in properly.

EX: Top left corner 'command: up'
Bottom right corner 'ground'

Just put the command on a prong and put ground diagnol from it.
