n64 3.3v line

Post by tooba »

I have been working on building an n64 portable, and it looks like I just fried my board. I had everything set up and working, but my regulator was overheating. While I was trying to limit the current to my regulator, I managed to short something and send too much voltage to the n64. Now the power LED will light up, but I'm no longer getting any video output. I figure that if there were any fuses the LED would be behind them and not light, so I must have fried something else. I was just wondering if it was known which part was the most sensitive to voltage, and if it is replaceable. Otherwise, I'll just have to find another 64 to gut.... and spend yet more $$ on this project.

Thanks.

There are some very small fuses on the video and audio lines. See if they are busted, and jump if they are. Other than that, check that the cartridge is connected right, hook up the original power supply, etc..

you cant "limit the current" to a regulator, the nintendo 64 takes what it needs, and it needs it all.
