design process

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

design process

I've hacked up a PSOne portable and now need a spiffy case to call my own. Help with designing/ideas/color schemes would be appreciated. I'd like many ideas and options so please reply all.

You guys aren't helping. I've already hacked the PSOne. I need to design a case, not look at yours. What are the steps I go about designing a case using a CAD program. (I have ProDesktop)

I also need help trying to decide how to get the parts made, aka CNC, cast, etc.

I'm thinking somthing like ben's handmade design from the book, with the screen in the CD cover and the controlls pretty centered on the screen. (The 5" PSOne screen) I want better sides though and not just aluminum. Also, what was up with that stupid right analog stick; at least make both sticks match!(meaning I'm sticking with the originals!)

Is that a little more specific?

When I make a case design I take out my caliper and map every part into the CAD program, place the parts, and then build the case around them.

That's helpful, any color scheme ideas? The buttons and analog sticks are black...maybe a red case?

I'd say black case with red buttons and detailing, the opposite is too bold.
