The Big SEGA Info Sticky!

Post by bicostp »

OK, the Sega forum is lacking a reference sticky, so I'd better get off my lazy butt and make one! :P

THIS STICKY IS ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Feel free to add your own info! -The Management
Please be patient as I slowly piece the Sega info together. :))

Places to get Cartridge connectors:
-Old consoles
-Digikey
-Game Genies
-Sonic & Knuckles cartridges

Most 64-pin card-edge connectors with a .1 pitch will work.

<b><a href="http://benheck.com/Downloads/RadicaCart ... jpg">Click here for the Radica-cart slot pinout chart</b></a>
The chart may look confusing, but don't worry, it's not too hard. Just match the pin on the ROM chip to the pin on the cart slot with the same name (A10 to A10, b52 to b52, GND to GND...)

AV pinouts:
<img src="http://www.gamesx.com/grafx/32xpin.jpg"><img src="http://www.gamesx.com/grafx/gen1.jpg">

Note! The numbering sequence on this diagram is NOT the proper numbering, and won't match the numbers on your connector.

Depends on the screen's scan rate. (I believe standard AV RGB is 15khz, but most screens only go down to 30khz...)

You could probably build the Dreamcast VGA box from gamesx.com and rig it to the Genesis pins, though...

You might want to imageshack those pics, or just post the url, to save gamesx some bandwidth.

I'm not sure if you want to add portables that people have made, but if so here's mine.
G-force's Genesis Ondago
G-force's Genesisp
(yeah, it's junky since I made it a long time ago, but still a classic ;) )

And here's a small pinout I made for the Genesis V2 for the ondago page.

Yep. It uses a 7805, so anything around 6V to 30V should work.

I'm still having issues with my cart slot on the radica!!! Damn thing is a pain in the ass. I've been through 3 freakin radicas and still nothing!!! MOTHER FREAKER!!! I'll probably purchase a radica and have someone else do it for me that's experienced with it. ( at ben)

But this is a great idea and longer overdue! Nice work so far! I'll try to compile what I have tomorrow when I get to work!

i know this sounds n00bish, but I want to make one of these with a Radica Genesis unit. I wanted to use Ben Heck's case design, but he doesn't have many of those on his site.

People keep asking for pinouts or something like that... so there's G-Force's model 2 (and 3, 99.9% sure) pinout for AV/Power
