Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Computer network adapter use?

Post by EvilnessNMyVeins »

Would it be possible to hook a linksys broadband adapter to the dreamcast modem port?

I know it won't fit but could you maybe hack it up to an old dc 56k adapter port to hook it directly to the dc that way

yeah I have read a lot of other threads on the broadband adapter but its 130 dollars and if someone could figure out how to convert a computer one it probably help a lot of people out.

I'm trying to see if it is possile but I'm still pretty new to the complex electronic area.

Thanks Anyway

I know there has been a thread about a guy that made a hard drive adapter that used the serial port, and he added a slot that looked like a modem or network card would go there. I'd give the link but I'm under SuSE and the link in on the windows hard drive.

You can't force a dial-up modem to use broadband speeds. You need the broadband modem they liked to above.

I'm not trying to make a 56k go faster. I am trying to connect an ethernet card for broadband(from my old pc) in the dreamcast modem port somehow. :?

But thanks for trying

I have one other option for you. It involves tricking the Dreamcast into dialing a connection to your computer's modem and then the internet signal from your network card is sent to the Dreamcast. I will have to say that you cant get really broadband speed they say. You have the bottle neck of the modem, but you dont need to get dialup if you have cable/DSL. Check it out here.
