Hey everyone! About a year ago, an article about someone modding a VMU into an iPod Nano case (see link below) got my gears turning. I love my Dreamcast and I actually collect VMUs. Anyway, I'm finally finishing up my improved version on this idea. With mine, you never have to take the iPod out of the VMU. The iPod sits upside-down in the VMU. To sync or charge it, you simply remove the VMU cap and plug it in. To turn the iPod on or off, you simply push the D pad in and up slightly. To adjust the volume, there's conveniently a menu screen for that.
Right now, I am just waiting on a piece to come in the mail for the headphone input. It's an L-shaped jack extension. My company happens to have an engraving department and my friends there are happy to do a professional job of cutting and drilling the pieces as needed, so the work doesn't look DIY at all.
Once I have the headphone jack in place, the first unit will be complete. At that point, I'll take a bunch of photos and do a video.
So what's the point of all this? I'm considering doing a small batch of these and selling them. I can save some time on delivery by gauging interest now. I'd be happy to do them in any color VMU as long as you or I could find it on eBay. If interested, I'd like to know it!

That's pretty cool. It might be impossible but it would've been sweet if the buttons + dpad did something
