Another 360 Laptop! Oh No!

So guys, I'm building a 360 laptop (Yes I know how many people say thier building one, but how many actually finish? Not too many) Anyway, I have already redone the heatsinks, extended SATA, DVD Drive, Wifi, HDD Drive. (Working on the the screen). I even have the designs for the case at a shop locaclly being done.

But Ive run into a snag, for the desoldering components (mainly the caps and ports) I just cant seem to melt the solder to suck it up.

I also had 2 cool Ideas as well, is it possible to put a HDMI in instead of VGA (yes I am following Bens guide). Also would the power supply be enough to supply a built in wireless controller recharge station?

Right now I'm in the testing stages for over heating and such, and most of the caps are blocking my way from putting any fans there so it runs about 1-2min with my setup before overheating.

what wattage is your iron? The solder on the 360 is leadless so it requires a bit more heat.

I have a 50watt station and a 30watt iron. I put the station on max put it isnt seeming to be doing the job (and I do know that it is RoHS compliant).

try adding some leaded solder then. that usually gets things moving and grooving.

I have been busy the past couple of weeks, but I got into testing with the reworked heatsinks. Following bens idea, I used 1/2 inch copper tubing in half and doubled up the gpu. Though while I'm testing the system runs max between 40 sec - 1 min 30sec, before it over heats. Im using 3 50x50mm fans, and 4 30x30mm fans. I don't know whats wrong. Im thinking its because the caps, and coils are blocking the airflow. (I tried desoldering them but I just cant.) So what did anyone find the easiet way to remove ports or caps and such?

Right now I'm workingon designing a all aluminum case. I probably wont have any ports (USB, Memory Card, Ethernet) just because I want to keep this one simple, just so I get the feel of making one. On my next one I was going to. I'll post up plans for the case tonight.

Edit: How well has that aftermarket sink been doing? Whats the height compared to the reworked one?

So what did anyone find the easiet way to remove ports or caps and such?

I've found that a heated desoldering pump makes quick work of most thruhole connectors since the solder doesn't get a chance to resolidify.

I perefer the bulb type, however all retailers carrying the $10 Chinese knockoff (RadioShack/Source) I frequent have been sued, and now only the +$200 digikey.comWeller / +$100 ca.mouser.comCooper versions are availble.

Fortuntely the cylinder type is still availble, however I've not tried it.

I've also tried eercz.comDesoldering [...] using a candle, without success on +8 lead components, and limited success with components lacking a mass of {vias/printed heatsink}. But it worked a treat on capacitors.

Well, I decided that theput best way to desolder everything worked. First I took the dremel and put a smooth drum on in which I "sanded" it down to the board (completely smooth. I then put my solder iron on it, and just kept rocking the cap/ports/plugs back and forth and it worked! But I am still having overheating issues. I got the GPU doubled up connected to the reworked heatsink like bens. (No heat pipes though). I have 2 X 50mm fans and 3 x 30mm fans on the Cpu/Gpu, but no luck. Any suggestions?
