Screen keeps going black. PROBLEM!!

So, i am so close to having my n64 portable working, and im waiting for a couple new parts to come in, and i tried the screen on my batteries but the only thing that happened was the screen came on but was black the whole time and i could faintly make out the volume bar at the bottom of the screen.

I was wondering if this had anything to do with amperage to the screen.

My batteries currently output 1.5 amps.

What's the battery voltage? Is it charged?

the batteries are 7.5 volts
