72-Pin Connector: Will this work?

Here's what I'm trying to do: I'm going to try and take the 72-pin cartridge connector from an NES (The black thing in the back that can be removed from the motherboard), and dremel the bottom of the connector off (the part that connects to the motherboard). Since the top half is what causes the problems in blinking NES's, cutting off the bottom and the wires and using that shouldn't be a problem.

If this isn't a good idea, tell me, otherwise I'll use it. Besides, it's from a dead NES anyway.

PS: I'm talking about the part of the connector that doesn't allow the cartridge to move when the cartridge is in.

If you're talking about the female-female 72 pin U shaped connector, then I don't really see a problem. Some people even wire it so that the cartridges load from the top.
