Programmers and 3D modelers come here.

Post by argelfraster »

In the Pokemon Gold/Silver remake thread everyone is saying what they think should be in the new game.( most likely none of it will ) so i thought to myself, there are a bunch of programmers on this site and maybe a few 3D modelers ( including myself ) why dont we try and make a small pokemon game? small as in, like 2 towns, 1 gym, and 20 pokemon.

If you really wanted to do something like this, you could just get a predone 2D engine that does stuff like this.

Someone made an engine in gamemaker for this:
http://gmc.yoyogames.com/lofiversion/in ... 06075.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(It still needs some work)

If you took the route of doing it in C++ or something, that could be sweet too.

edit: Full pokemon engine:
http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/11992" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

edit2: forgot bout this: RPG maker
http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would say only do C# if your going to do anything with XNA and stuff like that. If not, I'd recommend C++. I've been fooling around with it a tiny bit, and it's pretty good. Just using a simple library like allegro can do a lot of stuff.

That would be sweet, and I'm sorry I have nothing to contribute.

Stfu. This is everybody's busiest time of the year with finals and all that crap. And as long as you're coding, you might as well make a full game, because it's rather pointless having only 1 gym.

2) the demo will be 1 gym, full game will be all.

i guess 2D would be easier to start with than 3D ( obviously )
Can you show me some examples?
and also, do you only do human sprites or pokemon aswell?
Im asking this because i want to make a pokemon stadium - like battle system.
PM me.

Pokemon would be really hard.
I was thinking more along the lines of tiles, buildings, and character sprites.
