would a gamegear screen work?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Short answer: Yes, but you'd need the TV tuner attatchment they used to make.

Long answer :Look at http://www.doomportables.org/screens.php . They have a chart with all the screens and what systems they can be sucessfully used with.

You need the tv tuner or you need to make a chroma decoder, check out Kevin Horton's site, he made one to put a NOAC (i think) or something in a Gamegear.
You're better off getting one of the main three (psone, pocket tv, or hipgear)

Longer answer: Yes, you can use it, but you need all of the GameGear's hardware as well as the console you're portablizing's, so it's not really worth the effort, IMO.
