Ipod+PSone

Post by GrindcoreKid »

I'm not sure if anybody is familiar with the newest portable dvd players, but a cool new feature has been developed that allows you to plug you ipod directly into the player. One example can be found here http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/L11031747.jpg

Long story short, I thought it would be fun the recreate the feature. I have a very rough sketch and the beginnings of a circuit diagram. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Also, this happens to be my first ever post on the site so that is pretty cool.

P.S.- I would definitely appreciate any advice on a power source.

He wants to wire up a connector that would make it so he can watch/see the iPod on the PSone screen. It should be a fairly simple process. Just have to have the right pinout for the iPod and a power source for the PSone screen.

From the looks of it, he wants to hook a PSone screen up to his iPod. That's not so bad.

However, he wants to run it off the iPod's dock connector for power and video. That's not so good.

Portable DVD player doesn't have 30-160GB onboard.

It also wouldn't be good because the PSone screen draws almost an amp without the LED mod, never mind the linear regulator it's being run through in the diagram.

Running the video and audio output is fine, in fact I think the screen resolutions will match up (whether or not this will make a perceptible difference). The screen will just need its own power supply.
