I should mention that that's what we are pretty sure it runs on, since it basically uses a PC power supply. Use a multimeter just to be on the safe side.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

I can say with 100% confedence that it does run on 3.3, 5 and 12 volts. The PSU I have in mine is well labled and has them grouped. Make note that two wires are on the board are for powering up and the other... I cant remember what its for right now. Search the old threads that talk about this and find a late post by me mentioning about it.

Also, they make atx->xbox psu connector converters so you can use an atx psu in your xbox, so the voltages are right.

probubley a good idea

heres what I was thinking ade get me a v1.0 or .1.1 motherbord duel flash the tsop one half bios for windows or maybe linux I have not desided yet and the outher half with evox <pretty shure I can do that if not ill just get a modchip depends on how big the outher half of the flash has to be (I dont need the original bios cause I have am not interested in xbox live) then get a laptop case with screen(I still have to figure out how to hook it into the screen but ill figure out that lator)get 2 hdds one for xbox one for the os I choose and a adiqite battery and the things I need to get it to output correctley where needed then make a case I can fit on the bottom leaveing enoth room for adiquit cooling probubley out of sheet metal then ill have a portable xbox/oversized laptop and ill probubley put a parillel port on it also although ill probubley just use the 4 usb ports already on there I know ill use a usb keybord and mouse witch ill somehow insorperate in the disign but ill fiure out that after I get the everything up and runing of course there is the issue of shealding and ground but I think I can use the sheet metal case for that and ill be leaveing the disk drive off to save space

ill be changeing this as I go to make it as compact as I can but step one is to get the parts I need

Not all that ambitious but its what I want

I know where to get the the xbox parts I need but still have to look for the rest of the stuff if someone would like to point me in the right direction that would be nice outherwise ill find um

Nice idea, few problems. One the Xbox already is windows, it runs an NT kernal like that of 2000. So really its Linux or leave it as the original Xbox bios. Two hard drive isnt neccessary for what you want, you can place the files in any partiition you want the Xbox hard drive ahs I believe 5. And finally you cant add a parallel port as the whole mobo is a legacy free one, you want parallel data transfer use the USB or the ethernet port, their much faster anyways.

Do you even know how big the draw of a hdd is? If I remember right 2 hdds would draw around 20 Watts!

I'd like to see this Xbox with a parallel port. I dont beleieve you can add a legacy port to a non-legacy mobo without completely redesigning it.

but anyway back to my thingy I desided on Linux sence windows dose not run very well on the xbox unless you want to add more memery and I already have it runing on my curent one so it would be ezer I have ordered the xbox motherbord and usb bord but have not desided on the rest of the parts yet

As of right now its Laptop hard drives are the only economical choice. Compactflash cards have reached 8gb but cost $825 and microdrives are hardly an improvement in price. You'll have to buy an adapter to aloue the Laptop hard drive to interface with a standard 40 pin IDE cable, do a googel search for 2.5 3.5 hard drive adapter. Buy the ones that have pins I make the mistake of getting am IDE cable with the end for a laptop, but cant connect anyother device.

what is generally used to cool the average laptop anyway?
