cork?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

would a tough cork sheet work? like you cut it with an x-acto knife, cut a back plate, cut the walls, etc. and superglue it all down! would it work? cheapest way i've seen :lol:

I supppose it depends how small and tighly packed the cork is... But plastic would still be cheaper, sturdier, and more practical. Although with plastic the portable won't float in water :(

Well it is my way. I cut it off old CD players, PC monitors, etc. :P I can get nice flat sheets for free that way. just requires some dremeling.
