Foam Board

About it, is it a sturdy enough material for cases.

I think it is sturdy enough for a case though probably not the best choice. It won't last terrible long. I'd use it for a prototype - if it works i'd use some engraving plastic if you can get it.

it would insulate to much for something that makes heat (N64 and up)

I agree - it would be great for prototyping. I find that I can't really build something until I have a mock-up in my hands to see how it feels.

I used foam board for the back of my SNESp, and it didn't really work. I broke and cracked really fast
