Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
Yeah, I had one of those too. Ninty is just a bunch of cheap bastards and at the end of the n64's lifetime, they just threw together any remaining parts/boards/crap they had

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
totally. That's why they have the ds
Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
Let me ask you though, what did the heatsink look like? Was it like every other n64? Or did the top one with the fins go directly to the main processors?mako321 wrote:totally. That's why they have the ds

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
it's the main thing(I think) with the little blocks that have the squishy stuff at the bottom, with a metal piece on top. I think that's normal:P gimme pics of different ones and I'll tell you which it is.
Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request

The stamped heatsink. If yours looks like that then this could be interesting

Thanks so much for those pictures M Moogle, its really interesting to see a USA kiosk unit and I love the burnt in "DEMO UNIT ONLY, NOT FOR RESALE" stamp on the bottomM Moogle wrote:Here's some pics of the bottom and the Mario 64 cartridge.
Thanks very much for the info, I have added your serial to the listHobbes wrote:^ that is awesome!![]()
NUS-001
Serial # NS205730658
Rev 5
AVDC chip
1997
Hmm, thats interesting - can I ask what this N64's serial number is? I have a feeling all N64's with serials starting with NS9******** might be refurbished systems so Nintendo would have used whatever motherboards they had available to hand. Of course if your serial number does not start with 'NS9' then that theory is wrong!mako321 wrote:I don't get itmy n64 has the green cart door even though it's a grey system, but even though it was supposed to be a rev 9 board, I opened it and found a rev 5 board...
Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
NS610192102
I think it's a refurb though. probably is. btw, it's a mav-nus.

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
Hmm interesting, another 'NS6' serial - by any chance do you know if this N64 is originally from Canada?mako321 wrote:NS610192102

Also, just to double check, does this N64 have an 'NUS-CPU-05' motherboard, or an 'NUS-CPU-05-1'? (Important difference being the -1 at the end) Also, is the serial number sticker stuck on top of another serial sticker? (You should be able to see the edges of the original serial sticker underneath if it is stuck on top)
Your system sounds like its just a normal revision 5, and possibly originally from Canada. The really unusual thing is the green cart slot, because the 5th motherboard revision is from around 1997 which is quite a long time before any of the the colored N64 consoles started to be manufactured (To the best of my knowledge) Maybe it is a refurbished system
Thanks in advance
Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
yeah, I bought it in canada. I think it probably is.(I have no idea where it came from, I got it from some video game place a few months ago) No sticker underneath, and it's not a 5-1.just 5
posting a pic of all of it soon too.

I have added your serial and motherboard revision to the 'Canadian' list on the first page of this thread, I hope thats ok with you. It would be great to see a picture or two if possible (expecially the motherboard) but no problem if you can't.
Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
sure:D
picked a refurb ns6 today, I'll get pics of both.(when I fahnd mah cameraz)
EDIT
uploading pics, the new n64 is a rev 4. serial: NS603358522(probably canadian since I'm in canada, but as I said, it's a refurb. It has no second serial sticker either.)
EDIT
both my rev 4 and 5 boards have cpu rev a's and rev b ramchips.(obviously both with 2 2mb ones). Although they both have an unlabeled rcp rev, they have different fonts on each one.
EDIT
pics done uploading, linking them because they're pretty biggish.(I think photobucket already downsizes them though:(, I'll upload the original hi res ones to MF for you.)

not the best pics ever, but taken with my sony 6mp camera. I didn't want glary flash so I had to do it without so it was really hard to not be utterly beyond belief blurry.
EDIT
mediafire pics:D I never knew that it was a photo manager too

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
Thanks very much for the info and pictures mako321
I have added your chip information to the NUS-CPU-04 and NUS-CPU-05 revision information on the first page
I have also added your new serial number to the Canadian serial list - its very nice to be able to add a couple more serial numbers to the Canada list. I have also decided to remove the '(?)' after 'Canadian' as i'm now 100% sure that 'NS6' serial consoles are all originally from Canada - so many thanks for helping confirm that as well.
The pictures are great thanks
Out of curiosity did you take any pictures of the NUS-CPU-05 motherboard with the camera flash on? I realise it makes the pictures a bit glary - but I only ask as its not quite bright enough to read the codes on some of the chips (I hope I dont seem ungrateful!) If you havent already got any pictures with the flash on please dont go to any extra trouble though to take any more though.
Oh, one last thing - does yours NUS-CPU-04 console also have a green cartridge slot like the NUS-CPU-05 you bought previously?
Thanks very much for all your help mako321
