nobody has been adding rules. the rules are very clearly stated at the beginning:Joes2Silly wrote:Im just not going to submit my project seeing as I'm having to argue with you guys to fully comprehend your loose "make 'em up as I go along" rules.
BTW: I do think you should have made the rules more specific instead of adding them each time I ask a question
"Any portable - defined as a system with a game console, built in controller, screen, and battery to power it all, enclosed in a case - will be accepted. Any console, screen, controller, battery and case will be accepted. "
nobody said it is against the rules for you to use the screen that is already fitted for the xbox. an honest and realistic opinion was simply given saying that you can enter it, but it most likely will not win due to lack of work/time and originality.
they call me the Queen of Bondo, though maybe i should be called the Queen of Epoxy Putty

I'm really looking forward to all of this. I can't wait to see what others come up with. I made some good progress last night
On what, you may ask? I'll let you know in 6 weeks. Or less. I hope to God it's less. Given my track record it might be 6 months

It is worth noting that win, lose or draw it is all the same. The most you get is bragging rights. Make the portable and make it look nice.
Ok I'm going to be working on either a VCSp or the 8-bit holy grail, Commodore64 laptop. Hopefully you guys don't have a problem with how I make them... if I finish them.
As for the Xbox, just mod chip it. Then you can replace/remove the DVD-ROM, and use a laptop HDD or use a SDD. I think it will be acceptable to make one so long as you do modifications that make it more portable then it is stock.

I saw the post where Hail offered, but I didn't realize that this had been confirmed.grossaffe wrote:someone did offer to donate a prize...Chapel wrote:Joes2Silly wrote:Im just not going to submit my project seeing as I'm having to argue with you guys to fully comprehend your loose "make 'em up as I go along" rules.

well it hasn't been confirmed, but i'm just saying there IS a chance that there's more to this than just bragging rights.Chapel wrote:I saw the post where Hail offered, but I didn't realize that this had been confirmed.grossaffe wrote:someone did offer to donate a prize...Chapel wrote:Joes2Silly wrote:Im just not going to submit my project seeing as I'm having to argue with you guys to fully comprehend your loose "make 'em up as I go along" rules.

That's true. Sorry for overlooking that. However, prize or no prize, I still think that Joe should make the best portable he can, as should everyone else.grossaffe wrote:well it hasn't been confirmed, but i'm just saying there IS a chance that there's more to this than just bragging rights.Chapel wrote:I saw the post where Hail offered, but I didn't realize that this had been confirmed.grossaffe wrote:someone did offer to donate a prize...Chapel wrote:Joes2Silly wrote:Im just not going to submit my project seeing as I'm having to argue with you guys to fully comprehend your loose "make 'em up as I go along" rules.

Well, I'm looking forward to this. It's a nice impetus to get me to finish a project in a reasonable amount of time. I'm extremely pleased with my progress thus far, and if my case plan works out, I'm going to have something I'm really proud of.
Of course, the fact that the case is unique is cool, too.
