Sounds like your regulator is faulty. Get a new one, as it gets hot but it shouldn't be smoking.

did u modified the gamecube controllers ports/battery board?, make sure/check the led is placed at the right way, the led and resistor are working, and the 5v on controllers ports/battery board are working fine.

if the led is the only thing fail, it is the easiest thing to fix, use the resistor came with the controllers port/battery board and attach it to a led , then just find any working 5v point at your gamecube mobo.

btw, before do this, make sure other system functions work normally: (controllers, sound, disc drive, memcards slots.....)

if the error you got is something like this: "an error has been ocurred, turn the console off and check the user manual" probably the DVD drive is not attached correctly, I remember got that error when my disc drive was not connected to the system. check all soldering points for any short or unconnected pins with a multimeter.

The LED didn`t power on because i used the other controller board from the ruind system.

I also found the error, one of the Disk Drive wires was NOT conected, i soldered it it worked!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

One more thing, i got the new regulator!

does the regulator provide the correct voltage and enough power to the ps1screen?
check what the original power suply output and compare it with your regulator output.
the multimeter is allways a good friend :)

UPDATE!

I found out that the game cube power suply isn`t strong enough to power bouth things.
Thats sad, cus now i cant play the system with the power suply.

But, still with the whole GC power suply, the Backlight is still sissapering.

it uses the gamecube ground.
