I'm still here! (if it's me your talking about?)

I haven't done anything with the project for a while due to money constraints and I'm putting any money I do have into my DIY amp project.

It would be fun to play with this stuff some day, but I don't think it will be any time soon. I did buy some Kynar wire to try to connect the N64 to an FPGA, but I don't have enough pins on my cheapo FPGA (Pluto-II). Also, nobody that I've e-mailed about the inner working of the N64 (or MESS) has replied yet, so I there are many things are would need help with before thinking about starting an actual project.

I have built a 3D glasses controller though. This is to work with the IZ3D drivers, since they seem to work great with ATI graphics cards. The problem is, there is no easy way to control the glasses directly (like nVidia cards do), so I've made a controller to read the "blue-line" code. It's not finished yet, but most of the software is done.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread, but don't hold your breath for a project. I don't think I can afford to spend too much time on this as I have SOOOO many other projects rattling around in my brain.

Cheers,
OzOnE.

too bad your putting this project to the side, it was going pretty good. :( (and I want a smaller n64)

Pleased to see you are still with us! :D

I used some kynar wire recently, found it wasn't good for any lengths - either giving interference or not working - fine for short distances, 1cm or maybe 2cm but more than that and no guarantees.

What part of the UK are you out of interest? - I am in Hampshire!

You know, with newer anaglyph glasses that use Diopter Correction (sometimes called Dipole Correction), you can use them for quite awhile without real problems.
I mean, it's still probably just as bad for your eyes, but hey, whatever :P

I actually use a nice set of high-quality anaglyph glasses (with Diopter Correction) to play most of my games, with the exception of Team Fortress 2. (Think about it, you'll know why.)

Wow, that was a quick reply. I thought I was the only insomniac around here. :)

I was wondering about the lengths of the wire. I would have like to put a small FPGA right in the middle of where the CPU was removed from, then wire directly between the points. Unfortunately, it's probably more difficult that way (due to all the other signals and power lines needed.

I'm sure they'll be somebody out there with the knowledge and skill who could get a new PCB made up. I got quite far with the diagram (and Destop did as well), but I'm a noob when it comes to the highly technical signal routing stuff. Ideally, the PCB would have a large FPGA connected to two N64 CPU's and two RCP's (each with their own RAMBUS), the real fun could then begin. Unlikely though, I know.

OzOnE.
P.S. I'm in Devon. I'm actually an Essex man at heart, but I've lived here for 18 years now.

Hey, thanks for pointing me towards the 3D drivers. Now I've got N64 and some other stuff in 3D - very nice.

Now I need to buy a decent set of anaglyph glasses...
