Yes, unfortunately most people have the misconception that VB is only for database and stuff like that... Actually it's a quite powerful language, and as far as writing games with DirectX IM goes, it's not much different than C++ (only without pointers and is slightly slower.)Skyone wrote:Christ! You can do 3D in VB? I'm confoosed.

wonder if we can convince someone to convert VB to C++ for a gp2x port. would have to set it up to be very low sys requirements and stuff but might be possible

Heh, ya I used to make 2D games in it, never thought about DirectX in VB though.marshallh wrote:Yes, unfortunately most people have the misconception that VB is only for database and stuff like that... Oh, yeah, vb is way powerful! I love VB! My friend made this sweet all 3D universe fly by in VB. I think I still have the source to it!marshallh wrote:Yes, unfortunately most people have the misconception that VB is only for database and stuff like that... Not really, although the syntax is similar, that's about where it ends. DarkBasic provides nice little wrapper functions for moving/rendering objects, where in VB/C++ you must deal with DirectX's hairyness directly.XPCportables wrote:Is VB similar to Dark basic if it is close enough I might be able to run this game with the source code in dark basic.
Although I don't have a problem with people using my source code, I really think it's better to study code and re-write it into your own program yourself... And I speak this from experience
