Not all of us on this board have $50 to buy an atari game with? Well, maybe not everyone, just me

Hi, Im back,
Sorry to ignor this thread for so long.
The $50 cost of this cart is just for the parts no proffit is being made. actualy I will loss money at $50. Please read the thread discusing the cost of the cart before you go bashing the price.
I just finished etching my prototype for the multi-cart. It came out well but was slightly the wrong size and had the pins at the bottom reversed.
I have fixed this now and will etch a new prototype soon.
I have desided that etching in a home made tank works well for personal use but the boards are to rough to sell.
I found a site on the net that will etch 3 boards for $60 including shipping so I will use them for the boards.
I will post pics for the prototype soon.
On another note I am realy enjoying the atari ST,800,5200 emulator on the GP32 It playes well.

I agree with HK-74 if you need a menu get a Krok cart. I am also getting one.I'd really like a 512 in 1 if it had a menu system.
No sorry it will not.Hmmm....so the 27Cxxx EPROMs work with Atari as well as NES? Hmm... ^^
Good for you. this is not a bargen basment cart we are talking about and also it is 512 games(carts) not 1. Most multi carts are expensive. The krok cart is $100 (well worth it for what you get.) Other atari multi carts have sold for $100-250.$50 for an Atari Game? I buy Megadrive games for a fiver at my local retro gaming shop

Sure. When I get them they will be $20 for the board as that is what it will cost me. Or I can post the cad file and a link to the website that will make the boards for you and you can pay them.someone wrote:if you're not selling at a profit is there any chance of obtaining the .PCB from you?
I'll figure all that out soon. I will be making some for the people on this boad and it has been discused in this thread.
Sorry I ment this cart can't be used for NES.gannon wrote:Why do you say that the eproms won't work with the nes, they will.mindstein wrote:No sorry it will not.Hmmm....so the 27Cxxx EPROMs work with Atari as well as NES? Hmm... ^^
Eproms can definitly be used for NES just not with this bankswitching cart.
yeah! i should have been more clear; i was asking about the dotPCB or whatever file you are designing in. thanks a bunch in advance!mindstein wrote:Sure. Wait. So, you have an etching tank yet are paying $20 per board to have it made for you elsewhere?
And you can get a few more ROMs on the board by adding an address force switch to the design too
For example, if you force high or low on the top address pin, you can put two different 2K ROMs in a 4K block. I assume if it's a 2K ROM the Atari won't attempt to grab from a higher address anyway, so it might be OK to force high for one ROM or leave connected to the Atari (which would probably send low or nothing for the low ROM). Not 100% sure on that, but it might be worth it because it wouldn't cost a whole lot to implement and a lot of Atari games were 2K
You'd want to make sure to put them all next to each other though so you knew where they are.

I do use proper transfer paper. The tip for using the magazines was for some of the more financially challenged out there.SgtBowhack wrote:I still think that if they work, who cares? Might help to stop using magazines for the transfer paper thoughSpending 10 bucks on the proper transfer paper might save $60 in getting them made.
I don't know if you have ever tried to do it your self but for boards with many traces close together the tranfer is difficult ( many traces do not stick) and also the etch times needed cause trace pitting and the boards need to be repared. I do repare the boards and they work but look sloppy.
Can't sell sloppy boards. Anyhow I think I might sell it as assembly required without a case to compensate for the cost of the pro board.
Also I don't want to drill all the holes. I have broken many expensive tiny drill bits in the process of making the prototypes.
Also pro boards come with plated vias and you don't need to connect the front side and back side with jumpers.
I have been spending my time playing with my gp32 (thanks to gp32 theater for the clips I hadn't seen "death race 2000" since it came out )
I will have progress on this cart soon. Also the Krok cart should be out soon very cool.
