As far as I'm concerned, he finished his portable and decided to do a new one right after. He said it worked and I don't see why he would make that up.

oh didn't know it worked :? Altough he didn't cut it up that much. The first he cut up fried.I have cut up the GCmobo measuring at 10,9 x 10,9 cm. Without insane rewiring like you though :) . If you succeed I might try it myself. Would be one sick reduction if ya ask me 8)

thx! In a few weeks I will hook it up and test it. Once I have more money, I will buy another mobo and do it all over again but only one section at a time so I can troubleshoot each wire hookup. After getting good at it, you can do the entire process (cutting included) in about 6 hours. I will time myself next time ;)

UPDATE: Super glue fumes are terrible!

EDIT: discouraged and depleted....I decided that at 1am I would love to destroy another GC mobo. So in the next 5 minutes I am going to ruin one (for experimental purposes of course). People have been neglecting the GC topics unfortunately; not too much activity this month. I guess I'll just have to blow you all away with my amazing Gamecube SP when I'm done with it....psh

EDIT: Surprising...it took me 20 whole minutes to break the darn thing. And it was only after I ripped off a chip that was apparently necessary. I am going to solder it back on and see what else is useless on the mobo.

DD extension cables just came in the mail. Plastic sander just came in the mail. Still waiting on new heatsink, another rev c mobo, new soldering iron, and Car monitor screen.

My glue mold is still in the works. It has been outside for 3 days now, and I had to add more glue to fill in gaps.

EDIT: credits to SS, Mario, and any other pioneers involved in the low battery LED indicator. BRAVO guys. Beautiful guide, Mario. :D

Small controller test

EDIT: screen came from China finally. And I got 2 mobos (one is rev c) as well. I always seem to get my parts in twos....those UPS guys plan this out I swear.

Oh, and to all the newcomers out there, the REV C motherboard (no regulator board, no digital out, etc) is not all its cracked up to be. Keep that in mind when you make your GC portables. I mean, its cool at first, but then you realize "wow, this thing sucks. I can't cut off ANYTHING."

nice!

that screen seems to have just aprox half of the GC mobo size , looking good.

what about the picture quality?

Idk if some small Gamecube game texts can be readed on there , or if the pixel size is to big.

let us know your experience with that screen ^^

Well the brightness is just perfect IMO and the picture quality isn't tooooo bad. I can read all the text so far; although I will admit that some of the small text gets blocky. Its a decent screen if you want a small portable and only want to spend $36 on a screen. ;)

I'm curious about that screen....do you think you can take a picture of a game playing rather than just the gamecube startup screen???

If you could, that would be awsome!

Re: Tchay's Game Cube Portable Worklog (on hold for a few weeks)

Post by Tchay »

UPDATE!!!!

In case you hadn't noticed, I decided to do another portable gamecube while this one was on hold (the Ccube). Its a piece of junk but it was great for preparing me for this portable which will be unlike any portable you have ever seen (trust me  ).

Alas, I am still not experienced enough to undergo this task. SO, I am going to make ANOTHER portable Gamecube that will mimic this one in terms of internal parts (copper heatsink, modified mobo, custom L&R, PS1 screen, speakers, smaller fan(s)?).

AFTER I complete this separate GCP (titled: The Gamecube Envision or Envision for short), I will be ready for this one 8) .

Btw, I'm not a noob anymore! How did that happen? Its only been like 6 months
