YAP64- Another Portable N64

Re: YAP64- Another Portable N64
I have to desolder the video cable, which is hard because it's soldered directly to an SMT component (FIL9). I have a 220uF capacitor somewhere, but I have to find a 75ohm resistor. But I have to wait until Thursday to do anything. I can trim the board a bit but I don't think I will. I've trimmed the jumper pak which is pretty pointless- the final portable will have an expansion pak if I can find one at a decent price.
EDIT: I tore apart my broken AV cable and found no resistor and no capacitor. Can anyone confirm this as correct?

AV cables use composite, composite don't need capacitors - RGB ones sometimes use 220uf capacitors on the lines.
Re: YAP64- Another Portable N64
Well according to the GCp guide the gamecube requires said components, or maybe I just misread it. Either that or it's one of those weird PAL-only things.bacteria wrote:AV cables use composite, composite don't need capacitors - RGB ones sometimes use 220uf capacitors on the lines.

I'm so screwed, because I don't have PayPal. I missed a chance to get a PS1 screen for the 3rd time. I feel like abandoning the project, I can't find a screen, I might have fried the N64. Or maybe I've just had a bad day. Tomorrow I'll rewire the cart slot and test.

Tried your local Craigslist?
Amazing what you'll find on there.
I bought an entire box of portable-ble systems (Dreamcast, psone (2), ps1, SNES, N64) for 35 bucks.

Just open a paypal account and add a credit card or bank account. It's not that hard.XCVG wrote:Tried craigslist, very little stuff.

Isn't there like an age limit or something. Though I have friends with it. I dunno, I don't really trust PayPal. Actually, I'm afraid I'll buy a bunch of stuff with the new freedom and blow all my money.nevermind1534 wrote:Just open a paypal account and add a credit card or bank account. I have done a fair bit over 1000 transactions, mostly PayPal; no issues. It is fine, and essential for e-bay. Let's face it, if you wnat things like PSone screens, you need e-bay.
I think, if you have a credit card and no PayPal account that you can pay for items won via your credit card via the PayPal site, but there again, if you do that you may as well open an account anyway!

I was extra careful reading over everything, and nowhere do they mention age. They don't even ask for your age. Yeah, I bought a few things right away, but I've stopped buying like that since (after watching my account balance go down by about $150). And I got an ebay account (you're supposed to be 18 or over for ebay).XCVG wrote:Isn't there like an age limit or something. Though I have friends with it. I dunno, I don't really trust PayPal. Ah okay, maybe I'll get PayPal. Or maybe I'll get lucky and find something locally. I remembered the other reason I hate buying online which is shipping costs.

Re: YAP64- Another Portable N64
Factor in the shipping costs into the item cost as the final price you pay is what matters.
Re: YAP64- Another Portable N64
Today I'm going to rewire the cart slot! And test! Yay!
I must be bored. On a side note I'm getting an XBOX for $10 and a PS2 for free... hopefully.

Rewired and tested. Doesn't work-no video output. I'm assuming it's either fried or sleeping. I'm going to test againg Monday- if it doesn't work it goes in the junk bin and this project dies.
