1) My first NESp had the same problem (broken latch). I superglued a piece of aluminum over the place it broke, then glued a magnet from radioshack to the case and to the end of the aluminum. Worked great!BJWanlund wrote:THAT is one female of the dog species' Portable! I have several questions (i have a GB at home and I plan on modding that puppy to make a portable NES):
First, I gotta fix the damn battery cover and battery compartment. I used Velcro (not a good idea, don't try this at home) to affix the damned thing into place. The battery compartment, on the other hand, got a taste of battery powder (don't ask me why). Is it possible to restore the damn thing to its former glory before I dick with the guts?
Second, NOACs. I know these are illegal to a point (ie with romz0rs on them), but are there legal ways to get a NOAC? I wanted to make one myself, while hacking open my NES to figure out what all the other NOACs lack in compatibility with games such as Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Is this possible, or have I been smoking the reefer again?
Third, the cartridges. It's a direct connection, I can see that. However, is the connector permanently soldered into the Gameboy?
Fourth, the screen. Did you have to do heavy modification to have the screen be colorized, or did you hack a pocket television to fit the screen res, and just replaced the green screen cover?
Fifth, the cool Yoshi green color mod. What colors did you mix to make that beautiful Yoshi green? (sorry, got color mixing on the mind, art class is a Finster)
Sixth, the mod where you put something in there to mask the GAME BOY logo. What the hell is that?
Seems like I just ran out of questions. I'll let you answer those 6, G-force, and I can come up with more q's.

Battery acid is no problem, it just washes off. Unless your battery contacts are corroded, in which case you'll have a heck of a time getting them clean.
2) I haven't tryed Castlevania 3, but I think it should work. Every game I've put in this thing thus far has worked perfectly.
The only thing that makes NOAC's illegal is the pirated games. I bought a red version of the super joy 3 that had all the games on a famicom cartridge, so as long as I remove that it's perfectly legal to own/sell. I bought this from gannon btw. I would reccomend buying from him any day.
3) The cart connector isn't soldered onto the gameboy silly, you can't solder plastic
4) The screen is from a hip gear screen controller. It's 2.3" color LCD, and is quite high in quality. I got mine from jeff, thaks jeff! (don't ask him for them though, he only had one)
5) It's just some green Krylon spray paint. I thoght it looked great with the purple buttons and silver back. If you use spray paint, don't forget to spray a couple coats of clear polyurethane on it for protection (the green really didn't need it, but the silver does. It wears real easy)
6) You mean around the screen protector? I was wondering if anyone would ask about it. It's some stairway grip tape I got at menards on sale. Made by 3M. You just cut it and stick it on. It's very similar to the grip tape used on skate boards.
Ha ha, bring on the questions! I like answering them.
