Feh, not when Sega Saturn USB controllers are available on eBay for $15. No controller is finer for emulation and 2D gaming, and it even works with the Playstation 3! (Not the Xbox 360, thanks to the lousy dirty stinking misers at Microsoft and their insistence on making EVERYTHING proprietary and licensed. Screw you, Ballmer.)

It's been a while since I've found anything fantastic at a yard sale, or even a thrift store. I did pick up a copy of The Orange Box at Goodwill for about five dollars. After rushing home to install it on my PC, I quickly discovered that 1) You have to install Steam first and 2) If it's been registered by someone else, you can't play it! The moral of the story is that you don't buy used copies of The Orange Box. You probably won't be able to buy used copies of ANY PC game in a few years, if Steam-ing Pile of Crap has its way. Ah, the joys of DRM. :wtf:

Untested Sega Saturn with one controller and no power/AV cords: $10 at Goodwill. Not a particularly fantastic deal, but I saw it and thought, "What the hell? Why not?".

No idea if it works, and it was the Goodwill in Batavia, IL.

If you have the CD key in the case, take a picture of it. Go to Walmart and buy a copy of the game for PC. Take a picture of the receipt and (obviously) don't open the game.
Email those two pictures to Valve and they will reset the CD Key, allowing you to add it to your Steam account.
http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wik ... et_Process" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Return the unopened game to Walmart.

I did this with a copy of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 that I got at a garage sale and it works just fine, as long as the CD-Key wasn't disabled due to the player using it for cheating or whatever.

Steam is a great system, and if digital distribution of games is the future, I hope it's done the way Steam does it.

So far this year I've found three black label copies of Final Fantasy VII for a total of about $20. Found them at various flea markets and pawn shops. Unfortunately, the pawn shop I go to has wizend up and now lists their Final Fantsy VII games in the $40-60 range, so no more fun there. Plus, since they've released FFVII on PSN, the online pricing for it has dropped about $20. I should probably sell these off, though I keep hoping the black label copies will go back up eventually.
They also had a copy of Earthbound on SNES come in but they had that at $80..and someone bought it, yikes!
Got Pikmin 2 at a flea market for $20. Well worth it, that's one hard to find game. Kind of weird to me, it's a really enjoyable series.
And, Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars on SNES, found for $15. That's another rare one I'd been looking for!

My recent scores

On Wednesday, I got a Package from Porsche in the mail. It was a free flash drive that i signed up for a while back. And it came with more than I expected. The size of the flash drive is 1gb.

And yesterday, I went shopping at a local thrift store. And I also went shopping at our (new) local Goodwill.

I got this for $1 from the thrift store

And I got this for $2.50 from the goodwill store. It's still sealed for the most part. There is a rip in the bottom right corner. Anyways, seemed like a average deal. (Even if I don't own a dreamcast.)

The other day I went to the Goodwill that recently opened in town (yay), and bought this for the whopping sum of $2:

A Kodak Trimlite Instamatic 18 110 film camera, ca 1975-79.

Why, you may ask?

You'll see. :P

(I <3 GOODWILL. They're a million times better than Salvation Army when it comes to electronics.
1. They don't charge $100 for a ratty old stereo, and
2. They have a power strip bolted right to the front of the shelves and invite you to test everything. 8) )

I think it dependson the salvation army and goodwill in question. my goodwill has higher prices than salvation army. I can get a whole bunch of 45 rpm records from salvation army for 25 cents a piece.

Went back to flea market today got a Playstation 1 with controller 1.50. 10 Genisis games and 1 master system game or $5.00. Included titles columns, Risk, Altered Beast, Sonic 2, etc. 6 of them were in their original cases with manuals.
I also bought Lego Batman for Xbox 360 for $10 without checking inside the case but when I got home to play it contained Lego Star Wars Original Trilogy for PC. I was so upset. Guess I will have to go back next week and hope the guy is there.

Awwwww. Number one rule of thumb is to open the case / box of the item in question before purchasing.
