Re: TUTORIAL: Make a Pandora's Battery without a homebrew PSP!
use superglue or velcro on the inside =D
or put a switch and then superglue it.
but for most the duct tape is usually just for checking it works, unless you want to pull it apart again, like Aguilz does on his guide ( here: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php ... 41&start=0 ) he uses duct tape because he re opens it to make it non-pandora after using it for his purpose.
then after that, unless you aernt using it anymore for pandora, or planning to put a switch in it at later time, you can superglue it shut so it stays together..

but if you superglue it, its stuck in pandora mode or regular mode and you can't open it again without REALLY messing up the case. Sure you can install a switch, but christ, how long do you want to spend on this when you can so easily buy a ready made pandora?BoomBox-Creations wrote:use superglue or velcro on the inside =D

Re: TUTORIAL: Make a Pandora's Battery without a homebrew PSP!
Thanks blackbox_dev for this guide. Very helpful and illustrative.
I'd just like to add what this hack actually DOES (for all the engineers and geeks out there :)
According to this datasheet,
IS93C56-3 - 2,048-BIT SERIAL ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROM
Lifting pin 5 removes GND from the circuit, disabling the EEPROM. Pull-up resistors will then pull the data pin high whenever reading/writing the eeprom.
IMHO, completely disabling this EEPROM is overkill, and a better hack would be to forcibly pull up Dout (pin4) by connecting it to Vcc (pin8)
It seems this is what has been suggested here.
EDIT: whoops credited the wrong source :)

this guide was made by blackbox_dev, or iam7805, not benjamin heckadorn...

and a switch takes 5 minutes to do, after you actually hardmod it pandora and check. just cut a hole in the side, solder a wire from terminal A ( im sure it is A, but it might be B ) to the switch. and solder a wire from the pin 5 to the switch. close the battery with the switch in place. duct tape it together and test it works.
if it does, re open the battery and super-glue it together...
it really takes 5 minutes when you have pin 5 already removed... maybe 10... for pulling of the duct tape...

OK, I'll take that challenge, lets see you REALISTICALLY get all the supplies you would need together (including going to various stores for the switch, extra battery, etc.), open the battery, realize it isn't charged and have to charge it, cut all holes/traces/etc., test it, put it back together, and super glue it in 5 minutes. Now buying the Datel Tool or ready made pandora ACTUALLY would take 5 minutes, though there would be about a week wait involved.BoomBox-Creations wrote:thats the point17daysolderthannes wrote:

Your argument is blown to pieces if, like any self respecting modder does, I have tape and a switch in my workshop.
I agree with boombox on this one OH SHI-

It usually takes longer to install the switch, because it takes a while to pull up the pin 5 to how you want it, with a solder that is...
i said it will take 5 mins after you have made it pandora and tested to install a switch =D
And i have lots of switches that fit inside a battery and out the edge a little to switch it.
And, most people in this forum, would rather blow up their battery and buy a hundred more until they get it perfect than buy a datel product...
some things in datel are good, adn some aernt, the only good thing there is in datel is the battery converter.
it is good, somply if you put this somewhere where you know where it is, and you lose your pandora and cant find it, and you need one, just pull out your converter...
but the switch is still EASY!!

I work at Play N Trade, and no, batteries are NOT usually charged.BoomBox-Creations wrote:loolpalmertech wrote: I agree with boombox on this one

oh, and your Veyron limo reminds me of something I did back in 8th grade in 2000 with an ancient bootlegged copy of photoshop:

I can't believe that page is still up
If anyone is interested in reading a delorean page full of plot holes and spelling errors:

most the batteries i buy froms hops and off the net ( a friend does that for me ) they are 65% to 100% charged.
the only one that wasnt charged, was a new RC car battery. i only got it because the original battery was charged...
and meh. the veyron limo was something i did in MS paint....
click the pic and you will see...

I'm talking used batteries, new batteries usually do come charged (well, it depends actually, lithium usually are). Almost every handheld that is traded in requires grabbing a charger/AC adapter to test out.BoomBox-Creations wrote:most the batteries i buy froms hops and off the net ( a friend does that for me ) they are 65% to 100% charged.

how do you open the battery up, there's no way he opened his up with just a guitar pic. I've tried a screwdriver but I don't want to damage the edges.

if a guitar pick isnt working for you, use an xacto knife...ridders wrote:how do you open the battery up, there's no way he opened his up with just a guitar pic. I've tried a screwdriver but I don't want to damage the edges.

Hey.
Like many n00bs I am trying and failing to install custom firmware. I have made a MMS and have opened up my battery. It is the original battery from the PSP and was bought reasonably soon after it came out so should not have been made to prevent pandoraing.
Anyway, I open it up and find the circuit board differs slightly from many others. This is what it looks like...
From below:
From above:
Anybody know what the next step for this type of battery is, or if it is impossible to hardmod into a pandora?
