Yes, I have. I decided to design a case from scratch that has all the features I wanted, instead of making compromises to fit in a case that isn't quite what I want.ShockSlayer wrote:Don't remember if anyone has asked or not, but have you considered looking into having polycase do a case for you?

Epic Double Post!
By a mod, too.
It looks great despite some minor design flaws.

Re: Guess what's coming in the mail to me? (New pics page 2)
Yay more pictures!
I finished relocating the cartridge slot this morning. Worked perfectly on the first try. That always feels good

It looks like a tangled mess, but it's also kind of cool see through the clear plastic.

It's alive! Again!

I also tested one of these 3.5" DX screens (it came in the mail on Saturday). Considering it's almost forty bucks cheaper than the AEI screen, it's a VERY good buy. The color is very rich, and there is a slight lag on the screen but it's hardly noticeable and certainly not worth $40 to upgrade to the next best thing (the AEI screen, that is). I'll be writing a hacking guide here in a moment about this screen. Really, it just consists of A) remove from case and B) connect to SNES. It's extremely easy.

Update: Check here for hacking information for the DX screen.

Dealextreme's paypal link was down recently. It said it couldn't complete the transaction. Used it recently on ebay and everything is fine with my account. That makes me sad.
Is it up again? I might be able to finally get my screen.

Why must it be so small, WHY?
Looks great, LOB, and so small, you could almost fit it in your pocket!
But seriously, how many portables have there been made by us that fit in a pocket? I wonder if it's even possible...
Good work so far.

I wonder if their whole site is having issues, 64M320N3. I tried posting a review and some pictures on their site. I assume the review is under... review but when I tried posting the pictures it failed to upload. Twice. I say try again - their whole business is about making it real easy to spend your money there.
I'm glad you like it, snowpenguin. My new revision, the one I'm still designing on the computer, is slightly larger than this (about 1/4" taller and less than 1/4" wider) which will actually make it compatible with the SNES mini, meaning I can offer more options which can lower costs.
All portables can fit in your pockets if you wear cargo pants

Cargo pants you say...Life of Brian wrote: All portables can fit in your pockets if you wear cargo pants
I have a five-gallon jar at my house I like to fill with change. I don't stop 'til I reach tip-top and that little bell goes off, and I know Cargo Pant Day is here at last, and I dance. And I put the cargo pants on with a belt -- extra tight because I don't want to have an embarrassing situation on such a great day -- and I fill up all the pockets with the change. Then I get a car alarm -- not a car alarm with a car, just a car alarm -- and I hold it to my chest really closely. And then I go walk around the streets of Manhattan, and I wait for the first homeless person to come up to me and say, 'Hey, you got any spare change?' Then, I set the car alarm off: 'You hit the jackpot, mofo!'

Also, this is looking to be a crackerjack portable, LOB.

My abandoned X64lite was small enough to fit in my poscket. For the few days it was finished, I could keep it with me.

I did, however ts life was short lived, and I would have submitted it to the contest had it not died in my arms that night.snowpenguin wrote:I never knew you finished it.ShockSlayer wrote:My abandoned X64lite was small enough to fit in my poscket. Re: Guess what's coming in the mail to me? (Update on page 3)
Kicking around some ideas, such as using a digital pot to control a stereo audio amp as seen in this thread. Using a digital pot allows me to make a much more elegant volume control, giving me this result:

This newer design is slightly larger so it will be able to house an SNES mini, which is a big bonus. However, in order to use four AA's, the only way I can think of making enough space without increasing the thickness is to have the cartridge stick out the top about 1/4" to 3/8" out the top, which I'm not too happy about.

Or you could use the cheap li-po's I linked to around a month ago.
Just kidding. It all looks great.
(I still think that the AA's are the main hindrance of this portable.)
