I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

I seriously want one of these, but I'm wondering which is the best deal. This, GP2X/ Wiz, or a Pandora?

The Wiz is about exactly the same specs as this, but with a smaller TOUCH screen, and an OLED display, and no TV out.

The Pandora will be awesome, but worth the price? Not sure until some power hungry apps come out.

This is certainly the best functionality/price ratio.

Well, I have read some reviews saying that the SNES and Genesis/Megadrive Emulators are Crap, but that's a software issue, not a hardware. If it can run the GBA games perfectly, it probably can run SNES too. We just need to wait until some nerd gets his hands on the SDK and programs one :P

this will make a great replacement for the GBA and GBC I traded to Palmer

Pandora == PS1 Emulation.
And boy it's working great from what I see.

That, plus the ability to run a full linux distribution is nice.

I certainly expect more applications to come, especially when it starts shipping.

The Dingoo is pretty dang cool, especially at only $85 a pop.
Roughly comparable to a PSP in raw power, heck, it uses a nearly identical processor.
(Though I don't think it has the 3D Capabilities that the PSP does.)

Personally, I am waiting for the new firmware for the just released SmartQ 5 MID. It uses the same SOC family as the iphone, OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 support, and a 667mhz ARM11 CPU.

It has emulators up to GBA on it, and someone is porting a PSX emulator to it, and it has USB gamepad and TV out support by default. Should be easy to make a cradle for it.

That+Ubuntu (Which is the OS it is running) and PSX will make me forget all about the pandora.

The SmartQ is a pretty sweet little unit, but I need built-in controls for games, especially on something meant to be "portable".
I'm not carrying around a PS1 Controller.

Pandora's got Dual Analog sticks, full keyboard, etc.
And THAT, I like.

Though, I must say, for the price, the SmartQ is a pretty sweet little unit.

Which is why I plan on making a cradle for it. Should be about PSP sized. Just hack apart an SNES controller, a USB gamepad, and some PSP analogs.

I would be tempted to do that with a pandora, anyways.

What does the SmartQ run pricewise, and where is it available?

In China, it is $132.

America, there are places selling for $145 or so, but BUY FROM PLAYSMART! Seriously, they service there is so amazing. Beyond any other company I have ever seen, they help the customer. They have a great rep who is always on MSN and google chat that speaks decent English, and he is so cool, he will leak specs about upcoming devices/firmware updates! :D I knew about the specs on this thing from him ever since the first concept shoops were released, and he relays on suggestions STRAIGHT to the SmartQ engineers. They may just be stealing other emulators source code, but with 3 people suggesting it, we had a Genesis emulator for the SmartQ T5 II within a week. Just great stuff, and they have a 1 to 1 swap warranty.

They are doing American preorders (It just came out in China) for $165, and it will ship when the English firmware is done.
