Thanks Life of Brian, means a lot to me. I was keen to get a decent camera with 640x480 resolution and sound recording, especially for this stage of the project. As you say, it is so much better to see a video with a commentary than still just pics, however of course pics are very handy for project development and step-by-step guides, and take less bandwidth.

Just a small but worthy update: I have set up and paid for a .com address and yearly plan web hosting.
I spent most of today getting on with many of the articles I will be including in the website, although plenty more to come. I am probably about 15% there at the moment; my holiday is over today, back to work tomorrow, so it will be a case of snatching a few hours here and there again! I am going to try my best and get this site up and live in the next 2-3 weeks or so; however this is just my aim, it may be longer or shorter. When it is up, I will be promoting it, and also starting my SNES add-on project for this system.

Neildo_64 - Actually, I will be fine, but thanks for the offer. I have my website domain populated on the internet servers now, an e-mail account working and posting articles to the site. SohoLaunch is neat software, easy to use, and it even does FTP without you even know about it, seamlessly! Once I get the pages done, I will have a go and put in a forum or similar for feedback and discussion. About 20% there at the moment.

It isn't too bad at all really, have to bear in mind that engadget seems to like shiny toys and not practical hand-made systems; looking on the feedback on the topic it is filled with irrelevant nonsense, like you get on YouTube - however my site has had over 1500 hits in the last 2 hours or so as a result, and rising - so the ends justified the means! I will also post tomorrow hopefully on YouTube for extra publicity.

Thanks, pleased you like my site (even though someone here said it looked a bit "early '90s" - in another 50 years, so will I too!!Valium wrote:It looks very professional, and it's very well done. I do have a question though, why such an ugly color?
The colour is best described as lemon cream (the varnish darkened the original colour a bit). I didn't want a dark colour as it looked strange on my MK1 version; silver looks cheap, black is prone to showing all blemishes and prone to finger marks; white looks a bit "iPod" and cheap; so I had to go for cream, especially as this is quite neutral in colour so works fine with the strong colours on the controllers and buttons.
If anyone hasn't been able to see the video on my website, I have it also now on YouTube.

Indeed, in fact, my provider (HostPapa) is faster than PhotoBucket, by quite a margin by the looks of it: anyway, unless you pay PhotoBucket you have 25Gb bandwidth a month; only a fraction of what I would need! Unlimited is great.
I do wonder why this forum isn't on such a package - £5 a month, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited webspace?? Provides the PHPbb forum too.
