Well I've gotten as far as solder on pots and the resister, but all I got was a black screen with statick lines of grey and white.
I'd say just follow Ben's guide on classicgaming and you should have a problem, only other suggestion is PM Spongebuell.

Well you have one of three versions if its by Atari, heavy 6, 4 switch and Jr. Ben covers them all. If its say the Sears version then well you'll have to work off of finding out what chip is which and pins.

Bottom left corner... My atari boards a bit different too, but if you follow the traces you can get the video signal. Also on the pic the one labled sync is connected to one of the ICs via copper traces, your just connecting the chroma to the sync pin. If you still are having trouble look on doomportables. I have a 2600 wiring diagram in there somewhwere.
