The thing said nothing about powerups. It did not say SuperSonic, FireMario or KirbyShatner.
Unless Sonic got a face full of MarioButt, Sonic would win.
Yes Mario can...... Has Anybody heard of the Game Genie? And Mario can do his twist jump (like in Super Mario World) and kill things with spikes without getting hurt!! Cough....SONIC.....Cough!

supersonic is teperary like a Power star and mario would be quite unbeatable with a powerstar
shrooms and flowers are like Rings to sonic the first fireball would make him drop fis rings and the second one would finish him off befor he could recollect and I already gave shatner a space gun he dose not get kerby singing power
I am well aware of the concept of power ups. I've been playing these games since maybe before a few of the forum goers have even been BORN. -_-
I am excluding powerups in my analysis because:
1. The poll did not state anything about powerups, like FIREMario or SUPERSonic. It is just those characters in a deadly melee.
2. Once you enter power-ups, everyone has their favorite powerup and no one could ever decide who would win if powerups were permitted..
