But that comes without drivers for the motors, spindle (cutting motor), or power supply.
And it probably isn't the most precise, which is probably okay for most things but for PCB's and more the backlash might be bad.

That brings it up to $1000+, which you could get a larger Fireball V90 for the price with larger stepper motors and bigger area...

I have bought or serviced a number of HP products (printers, scanners, archiving system) that have been mechanically disabled by the omission of a particular part either by marketing design or defect. This is infuriating since these 'missing' parts are not avaible from HP except as part of an expensive (+$500) "unit upgrade" to bring these units up to spec, and these parts are usually noting more than a bent stick with a pin in either end and a cam in the middle.

Similarly, M-star has lisenced the venerable Panasonic dotmatrix printer (specific application where thermal or lazer won't work) and are charging $250 / replacement ribbon cartridge. But these are infact regular (in sofar as regular 30" wide cartridges go) Epson ribbon cartridges with the ribbon socket replaced by one with different teeth. Were the the sprocket in the printer replaced with one that is Epson compatible then I'd be able to supply this one client with regular $25 Epson cartriges or the $3 Epson compatibles, and prove that the M-star technician doesn't actually visit the printer in question. The M-star sprocket is broken anyways and was replaced with a paperclip that periodicaly slips and jamns the printer with loose ribbon, much like it did before it broke anyways...
