Yea I use 30 gauge and a pencil tip on my iron and I have done 5 and it still takes me 2 hours minimum. LOL
Keep at it
My Portable Systems:
-----Genimini---------Darth64---------Dreamtrooper--------Ncube---------Kamikazi64---N64Boy Advance
haha i use a magnifier glass to see better it helps a lot and speeds up the process but on the down side it sort or messes up my hand eye coordination so i burn my hand twice now i only have about 10 wires done and i am not sure what wire i am using its was in my storage room and i think it's 30 gauge (yes i know i said i would post no pics but too bad i have not soldered the battery onto the system yet cause im gonna do that last and my screen comes 2morrow XD):
oh and i forgot this is a random question can i use a gamecube controller stick for the n64 cause i dont like the feel of the regular stick?
so im stuck here should i use my 3ed party controller and use the nice analog stick from my gamecube controller or my offical nintendo controller and use the c-stick from my gamecube
game cube in analog honestly its better than the c stick in my opinion c stick is hard to use for specific direcitions and why not try both on the 3rd party
First, turn off the n64, unplug your controller, let it sit for a minute, then plug it back in. if it still goes up, make sure all o the connections are correct. If all else fails, desolder and resolder the connections to be absolutely sure. I remember when I used to play gamecube the joysticks would sometimes get wonky like they would just keep going a certain direction. I would unplug the controller and restart the system with the controller plugged back in and it usually worked fine.

Well I have heard that you can't use the c sticks with 3rd party controllers without a special way of wiring it. Pm sifuf and see about how he did it. If you could post his response here I would appreiciate that since I have been wondering myself.
Did you follow the diagram here on page 3? make sure that the negative lead is connected to the middle pin and each positive pin for the c-buttons is connected to the other pins like this:
