If the 7805 is bypassed, it may work with 5v. I have a screen that worked when I did that, it just made the CCFL backlight go screwy (so I LED modded it).

Also, do you really need a picture of a 7805? Hasn't that been discussed enough on these forums? If you saw a 7805 on your screen's circuit board, shouldn't that be clear enough evidence that 5v won't be enough to operate your screen?
I need a picture because mine doesn't have one. I wanted to know if you have a different revision or model; something like that.

+Draws 300ma under a load. (240ma standby)
+Should run on anything between 5v and 12v. I have confirmed that it runs on 7.2v and 5v though.
+LED backlit!
+PCB is the same size as the LCD One thing i noticed is when I played a Dvd (after playing mk64 and GH ), the letters at the menu screen were a little fuzzy on the edges.

This screen contains a 8051 derivative microcontroller (probably for setting up brightness/contrast parameters with the video decoder)

The video decoder (TW9910 techwell)

Looking forward to hacking it up :D

edit: All N64 games I've tried don't work, the screen rolls :(

Yea the 3.5" that I tested is much better, works with every system. It is $10 more on Ebay but it is worth it.

Oh yea, I found out that the video ground on these Hong Kong monitors have to be hooked up to the battery ground.

I wonder if that is the problem with the rolling screen on all the 3.5" screens ?

(late reply)

grounds between console and screen ALWAYS have to be connected, regardless of what screen it is.

Yes but power ground and video ground doesn't necessarily mean the same thing
