Lol I'm just being picky, as in there is a big difference between "proof" and "resistant" and I'm pretty sure there's no bullet "proof" glass/plexiglass around.metalcookie wrote:oh, there isn't?

i'm pretty sure acrylic is plexiglasacrylic sheet is a 1.25" thick, transparent cell cast acrylic sheet. ACRYLITE BR sheet is listed as a UL 752 Level 1 bullet resistant product for indoor and outdoor applications.

Acrylic in what can be considered "reasonable" amounts is bullet-resistant, and has similar physical properties to glass.
However, being prone to shatter, truly bullet-proof Acrylic isn't exactly realistic.
If you wanna stop people throwing rocks, use PMMA.
If you wanna stop small hanguns, use PMMA.
If you wanna stop modest rifles, Lexan will do that job.
If you wanna stop a .50 Mk.211 Mod 0 round fired from a Barrett M82 at 1400 yards, you need quite a bit of steel and a very forgiving deity.

It wasn't actually from a DVD player, but a universal screen. It used to have the A/V jacks and the brightness/color controls on a separate mainboard.vskid wrote:What brand of DVD player is the screen out of? I have a screen out of a Durabrand (something like that, cheap walmart brand) that looks very similar to yours.
So I worked on this a bit last night. I cut out the joystick holes for... well, the joysticks.

Another view:

Here they are bolted to the screen:

In case you were wondering, this is the mold I used:

And here's my super-ghetto-awesome vacuum forming table:

Don't forget, this portable is to sell. I'm going to be looking for around $350. Though I suppose none of you would call it already because you have no idea how it's going to looking the end.

Looks nice. You could easily get $400 for a nice portable, that's what sonyportableizer tried to sell the BROKEN L64 for.

Nice little vaccuum former.
I see you did that mini car on the bench, too. Looks like it does the job rather well.
This post brought to you by David Duchovny's glorious nipples.

I love that former. It's so ghetto it's cool. And it works! And it seems to work well!

I smiled at the little car on your desk. I'm digging your control design.

Thanks, Brian.
Here's a closer view of that car.

I spent a couple hours yesterday meticulously cutting and filing these button holes:

The back of the controls, with the buttons and joystick glued to it.

Now I just need to glue the controls for the other side. And get money. I really need that.
I still need to get batteries, an N64 controller (3rd party), and... that's it!

Those controls look like ears on the portable!
Nice little vacuum former! How thick is the plastic you used? 2mm? 1mm?

Re: Sprocket64: N64p Worklog
They do, huh?
The plastic stretched in some places, so sometimes it's 1mm and sometimes it's 1.5mm. Its got to be reinforced anyway, it was from the sides of a giant soap container!
