In the video I mentioned using an 11.1v 6400mah Li-ion rechargable battery from batteryspace.com

Ok then I got one more then. Since you can just bridge the 12 volt line with the 5 volt one, can you use a battery with a voltage of, say, 7.4 volts?

You know, make them much more affordable.

Certainly your best yet. How high is the GC disk drive out of interest (not opened mine up yet).
