crap! do u know if ben'll have any more info on how to make one? I kinda got my hopes up on this one. I dont have much to lose cuz i got the ps2 for $10 and fixed it so i guess any info would be good for now. I kinda wanna get started. :?

Trust me, it will be a LOT easier to do a different portable if you are a newbie. The 16-bit systems are probably the easiest. If you must do a PS2p (though it is helpful for other systems) go to http://www.doomportables.org and learn pretty much everything on there, and how it works.

similar, but with the ps2 you have the dvd drive to worry about since keeping it as a tray loader would be a bad idea.

well.. the dvd drive is half gears and more "manual" or "physical" parts that it could do without, i adtually took out the tray already and it works fine.

i just meen the peice of plastic the disc rests on.

of course, you don't want to rearrange the gears so that the disc goes faster or slower than it should, if you are going to redo the tray mechanism.
