well, there are some other 64-bit processors out there that were out before the G5, but you couldn't really run windows or mac on it (just Linux, probably, and even then I'd imagine it to be different, since you couldn't run quite a bit)

Actually the very first 64-bit CPU was the MIPS R4000, which was released in 1991, with a blazing speed of 200Mhz.
