I thought that the era was closer to the atari, though it seems that this was made in 1984, a year before the NES. I think it belongs in the Atari section, but I'll be able to find it if it is moved.

The Fast Load cartridge caused some compatibility errors (I remembered going to and from Sears because Arkanoid wouldn't work with it and then realized it was that stupid cartridge).
The C64-in-a-joystick is brilliant and has some advantages, such as a soft keyboard to assist in portabilizing fun. Though it's kinda too late... I highly recommend using it over the original C64. It has support for 1541 drives and PS/2 keyboards as well inside of it (you just need to wire it up)

I was thinking of this for awhile, why would the PSOne screen not work that well? I mean that old Osborne in my basement uses a 5" monochorme screen and the resolution just sucks, it can only get 40 lines of text, wouldnt that be enough with the C64p?
Thanks that really helps me, I wanted to buy a rf adapter for my xbox, insteas I'll just solder on some RCA jacks I have and use that setup.HK-47 wrote:http://benheck.com/Games/MGD%20Start.htm
Its not in videogames section, but that didnt stop me...

The Sony PSone screen would probably work fine. It's 640x480. I honestly think any PSone screen would work fine- the C64 had a resolution 320x240 or below and it had an RF out for crying out loud
Like I said, the thing that's so neat about the C64-in-a-joystick though is the soft-keyboard, perfect for portabilizing... well, since it's already portable

At any rate the C64 and Atari are closer as they are considered computers more then videogame consoles, the NES only played games.

C=64 power is a real pain - they need (ground), +5V, +9V, +12V and ungrounded 9VAC! The 9V DC on the board is made on the motherboard from the 9VAC in, it's not included in the power supply connector.SpongeBuell wrote:A few days ago, Sparkfist recommended that I did a Commodore 64 portable. [...] While Sparkfist said I should use a Commodore 64 joystick, I decided that I will most likely use a full C64 and do some hacks. The main reason for doing this is because there is one at my local gamestore for a whopping $10, though it doesn't come with any cords. I don't think that will be a problem, since it should be pretty easy to find some hacks for it (chances are it uses a 7805, otherwise I can make something up)
So, what do you guys think? I'm mostly doing the C64 since it's cheap, yet still has a lot of functions and possibilities.
It's actually light blue on dark blue by default, but there were people who made custom ROMs so you could have your own custom color combo and startup message. Maybe they still make them; there is still a huge C=64 user/fan base out there.MM007 wrote:2. The Commodore, unlike other game systems, uses text, blue background and white characters (those who have played GTA Vice City, that 80's computer in the intro is a C-64 reading from a tape drive.) The text colors and stuff can be changed by commands and keys, choosing from 16 colors.
Mum! Dad! Don't touch it! It's EEE-VIL!

I cracked and got a DTV since it was only $10, so that's not a problemA.J. Franzman wrote:C=64 power is a real pain - they need (ground), +5V, +9V, +12V and ungrounded 9VAC! I'm courious if anyone has suggestions as to where I can find a female PS/2 connector. I'd rip one off my old un-used P1 mobo but it uses the old big one and I dont have a compatable keyboard.
P.S. Yes you should be worried Spongebuell.

Thanks gannon, I looked over my old computer parts and found I had a PS/2 connnection. I'll see about connecting that and maybe a serial (x2) and possibly a parallel port some time between Monday and Thrusday. I'll also see if I can get some pics if possible.
