Sony PSOne LED MOD **HELP** ..

I started this topic by saying I pocked EVERYWHERE and can't find it.

What do people do when they build these portables? Hardwire the LCD and system power together!??

I'm surprised LED modders haven't figured it out by now. :cry:

try getting it from pin 12 here on the slot of the wider cable! i think that is +5 volts from the psone when it is turned on and pluged in!

I was thinking of using that, but I don't think it can provide enough current for the LED's without burning something else.

What I was thinking of doing is something a bit differently, but I'm not savy enough to come up with the correct terminology and was hoping someone here might know.

I need an IC that is basically an electronic switch. Where the 5V from that pin drives a connection. If the 5V is present, it closes the switch, and 7.2V from another location goes to the LED's. If the 5V is not present, the switch is not closed.

What is such a device called? Any recommended digikey/mouser part #'s?

Sounds like you need a relay. You need a normally off one.
