Battery Consumption 3

Post by demonofaj »

OK, so the entire 9V. idea, im scrapping. Here are my two choices. Run both the mobo and the LCD on one Infolithium, or run the LCD on infolithium, and power the mobo with an alternate battery source. Let me remind you, the mobo takes 9V. So what would power the mobo 30-60 minutes.

Well, it depends, I originally powered the thing with 4 9V., and it worked for 3 minutes. So how many amps does 4 9V. take, and you get the amps

i'm not sure what the Ah of 9v batteries are. according to POD, genesis can take anything from 7.2-36v. you could get an RC car battery and that'll probably get enough battery life

I like the RC car battery idea, but im out of funds. I only have commercial batteries right now, you think you portabalizing geniuses (mini bens) can help me find a commercial alternative.

Let me specify my question, when i say commercial, i mean alkaline. So can someone give me a formula of power, using well alkaline batteries. Dagguy isn't the only mini ben.

the formula is: Ah of batteries/(amps screen takes+amps mobo takes)

OK, number one, stop making multiple threads for the same copulate question! You only need to ask it once!

Now, get a damn multimeter, and do this right. We are glad to help, but we don't all have both a Genesis and your screen lying around, ready for testing, and unless we know the draw, we can't tell you what batteries to use. Saying 4 9V batteries does nothing, because we don't know the capacity of the specific batteries that you used.

Second, stop saying max 1 hour. It's one thing to have a minimum of 30 minutes, but even if you aren't going to play it much, you don't need the batteries to die in 1 hour. Saying max 1 hour just makes finding good batteries harder.

Third, we know that the Genesis takes +7.2V, but you didn't say what voltage your screen takes, atleast not in this thread(back to my first point).

Alkaline batteries are 1.5V, so figure it out so the voltage is high enough for the screen. It's really not that hard, really.

Finally, stop telling lies. First you lied about your age. Then you tell us that your friend made an XBOX portable, which he started when he was 10, but we are yet to see pictures. Don't forget that we never saw pictures of the pirated systems that you got for $35, from a store that is now closed.

Just in case there is a battery problem or uneven discharge rates, it might be a good idea to put a low forward drop diode between each parallel battery and the main line. This will prevent back currents and, in the worst case scenario, explosions if a battery fails.
