SuperJoy lightgun pinout

Post by MajorLag »

I'm looking for the pinout of the SuperJoy DB9 lightgun connection (from the gun's side) as it relates to an NES Zapper pinout.

Given this:

What are the corisponding DB9 pinouts?

(1 is the light sensor output, 2 is the trigger output)

Pinout Update

Post by EVoodoo »

Hey, I'm trying to do the same thing with my Family Boy, which I believe has the same pinout as the Super Joy system. So I'd like to know how the pinout worked? Does it work? If so, does anyone know the rest of the pinouts?

RE: zapper pinout

Post by aiiadict »

I think the zapper signals need to be inverted with a 7404 chip?

the trigger on the super joy is pulled low inside the console,
then pulled high by always being connected to the 5v pin..
when you pull the trigger, 5v is removed from the trigger
pin.

The zapper that is included with the superjoy will not work
properly with NES games that you plug into it... I bought
a famicom to NES adaptor, and have run Gumshoe, operation
wolf, to the earth, and mechanized attack... all these games
required me to put a piece of tape over the tip of the gun,
and cut a small hole in it.
