Casio EV-680 and text--bad idea?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Casio EV-680 and text--bad idea?

Post by Reaperman@home »

I've had a lot of bad luck with compact TV screens and text. Actually, I've had trouble figuring out what anything on a 3" TV was. But I've never tried an EV-680. All I've tried are those RCA jobs.

Does the Casio EV-680, that's recommended for various projects, do better with it. Or is it just like the rest? Any better options for me?
Especially for smaller computer text? (C64)

Also is there perhaps a smaller game system monitor that has a small PCB. The PSone monitor's board makes it very large.

I'd go with a PSone screen for a c64, for legibility's sake.

isn't there somebody that makes a super sharp 3" screen? Or a 5" with a small board that doesn't stick out on the sides?

I have a psone monitor sitting around, but it's really huge.

You can get the 3.5" LCD used in the Pheonix, except itll cost you a mint. The link is in the screen faq a few posts down.

he's saying that the link a few posts down in the screen faq, I believe, not that the screen faq itself is a few posts down :P...
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

wow...it's so perfect... Led backlit, no huge PCB.

I was planning on using a case similar to the phoenix's anyway--with both paddle and pad, but I never thought that was inside it...

but $127...ouch...
does anybody else think it should be at least 2" larger for that money...

we'll see how far I get on internals before I worry about the screen...maybe it'll go on sale by then (yeah, right)
