Just order the parts through Jameco. They have cheaper parts, and they don't have that handling fee for orders under $25.00.

Hey,
Is there any new information on this project? I am about to start another portable project and I think this would be the perfect application for your board seeing as how it is so small. Please respond back if you have made any progress, new revisions, etc.
Thanks,
--James

I'm being silly now, but why didn't you throw display on to the same board? It would be time consuming to input, but you should be able to get the diagrams to most portable TV units at local tech schools, correct? it just seems like since you're going to this much trouble, you should shoot for a single board. it's what's keeping most of these systems from being as portable as they should be.
Indeed, but I think if he was going to go that route he should have some funding sent his way or partner up with Ben so they can come up with a unified battle plan. Start ordering only screens so as they really don't have to hack anything up. Use the board with all on it; use Ben’s control board, and hardwire the screen in place. I think that would be the best alternative less the making every type of portable TV board.Reaperman@home wrote: it's what's keeping most of these systems from being as portable as they should be.

Bad timing Gannon just went on vacation.
However last I heard of this he was still getting componits (capasiters and whatnot). If the board works he'll likely add it to his store, so until that happens, be patient.
As for the idea of throwing Gannon's board together with Ben's control board and screen. I dont think that will happen not unless Ben thinks its best. I dont know that Gannon has obtained the same model screen for his portable workings.

I am a geek.
I just read in the fish post that he was going on vacation to Europe. Ben's control board is seperate from the screen, so you could use any screen. But they could combine schematics of all three boards and buy only the screen, have the "board" made else where.Sparkfist wrote:Bad timing Gannon just went on vacation.

what I was suggesting was using one board...total.
why aren't the controls already on board? that's exceedingly easy to do.
putting a simple audio amp on the board should be pretty simple too.
but putting video from a common commercial unit on there would be trickier--though possible with the proper freely-available diagram.
and of course there'll probably need to be some kind of onboard power-handling.
the trick is stuffing the board. it's a lot of work to go through for a 2600... A more powerful system might be a bit more worth it.

I need to pick up a few more parts though, and the TIA chip is getting shipped to me on Monday. It should work, and I really hope it does.

Would you spend the extra $20+ to get those on a board just to find out it doesn´t work? It´s called a prototype for a reason.Reaperman@home wrote:why aren't the controls already on board? that's exceedingly easy to do.
