Power connections

Post by nickerous »

Ok, I didn't know where to ask this, so I'm going with the catch-all forum.

Can I take the wall adapter of a system (any system), strip the wire, connect the wires to a battery pack, and run my portable system using the spliced cord? I want to use power adapters that come bundled with systems to connect the system to a battery pack. Can this be done?

Depends, if the system has the power converter in the plug like the SNES, yes, if it's inside like the dreamcast, no.

And the way they designed the thing the N64'sw poer adapter you might as well pitch because it pointles the ways its shaped.

For the most part you can strip the power cable and use it to connect th system to a battery pack.

Make sure you have enough voltage. NiMH cells need a charging voltage of about 1.5-1.6V per cell to get a full charge. Don't overcharge the batteries - the more powerful the wall adapter, the more dangerous this is.
