How to get SMS Signals to PSone Controller Ports

Post by Unidentified Assilant »

I know this sounds strange but I want it done

How can I convert the signals to the PSone controller port, but keep the PSone controllers intact, this for a project me and a mate are doing, to intergreate the PSone and SMS, like Ben did with an Atari and PS2, I want to do this for a laugh and to see if I can do it!

You could always connect wires to the button switches and run them through the original SMS wire, and tape the wire to the PSone wire...

Just a thought.

I agree, tapping into just the buttons you want and running a second cord would work for what you are asking. *!-Another option would be to get the pinout for both systems and run taps from the inside of the PS controller port to the SMS controller port. That would have the same effect and you can switch controllers at any time without modding another one (not to mention that it would look cleaner on the outside).-!*

Edit: Forget everything I said in *!- -!*, I realized about 8 hours later that unless the two systems use the exact same controller signals for the same actions that it would not work. You could add a Genesis controller port near the PS controller port and run two wires out of the controller provided you can fit the Genesis controller sans buttons into the PS controller with jumpers between the two. For all the stuff you would want, it would probably be slightly easier to fit it all if you modified a big xbox controller to operate as both controllers (it's big enough for both controller boards).
We perceive what we know, why is it that we do not know what we perceive?

Thanks, I may buy a unofficial PS controller since it looks big already and may house both boards for me, alsdo, I like bigger controllers cause I can get a better grip around them because of my big hands :)
