With most DVDs my player fritzes out like this. The widescreen version of Indiana Jones is the first disk I've played that hasn't. It doesn't seem to be an interference problem (I have tried using the player several feet away from the Television). The Television is a Sony Trinitron KV-2080r, the DVD player is a JVC that has a selector switch for progressive scan (in the interlaced mode).
Any help you can provide would be super,
Reuben

Your post is broken in many ways. Did you check the disc for smudges and scratches? I've seen some pretty odd looking video, and sometimes full-on lock-ups, being caused by thick fingerprints being on the bottom.

The disc is pristine. I have tested the player with multiple discs; at this point Indiana Jones is the only disc that works properly.

maybe try a laser cleaning/re-alignment, if the dvd has gotten a good bump it may have set off the alignment a bit.
