Hey, ive got a little problem. after i completed step 3 the gc stopped reading discs! it spins for a sec than stops. the laser is on and the motor works. whats going on?

step 3 is the one relating the regulator board?

if it worked fine before complete the step 3, you may connected some pins wrong, or actidentally damaged some small components, try checking the voltages lines from the regulator board with a multimeter, maybe some of them got damaged. I found some problems with some regulator boards with that.

you should determine if there is any damage at the setup

or if it is, where it is.

well, u can try buy the official/third party gamecube screen and batteries and just plug them in, in that case you wouldnt need to take appart the whole system or hack the electronics.

it isnt required, but is recomended to make the portable smaller/better to fit at your custom case.

however if you can use a Wiikey Fusion DD replacement instead the original gamecube DD, it would be awesome
games could be loaded from a sd card, and the whole system would be way smaller than the system with the original DD

I have my board clean and prepared. Only need a screen, but for the moment i'll try to connect directly to my tv(testing only).

well, I admit I am a little out from console modding and those forums atm.

yes, I used laminated wood for my portable.

"contrachapado" is the type I used : )


my portable uses a laptop battery.

the 6600 mAh version from an acer 240m laptop.

yeah, picking a wiikey will save you a lot of space ,however, like you said, a lot of soldering is required ^^

well, there are a lot of soldering guides, I am not a soldering master, but some advices like those really helped me out to make things working:

allways keep the soldering-iron head sharp-edged (afilado)

also the head allways must be clean (plated color, free from dirt), I usually keep a wet sponge near the soldering iron and use it to clean dirt while I am soldering.

I would start repositionating the power suply and leave the video connector like you said for testing on tv.

remove the video conector is one of the last things you should do since testing , testing and more testing after each step is the word for those kind of projects

I know that soldering is a hard work. But i'm try to learn the maximun posible before start my own.

My DD(mi lector de GC) is died. This is the unique motive to include wiifusion in my project.

well, like I said, including the wiikey fusion should be a nice option, specially if the original DD is dead.

it will make things easier and your portable smaller.

yeah, laptop batteries should work fine ^_^

however, try to use 12 or 14.8v battery packs.

also using the original laptop charger is recomended.

I'm trying to rearm my skills with the soldering iron before start my own project(yes 21 years without use jejej)

I have some capacitors resistors, etcccc in my room(I have learned in the past with CEAC one electronic "curso??")

And have tons of laptops destroyed. The people gave to me to repair or for my testing (good people ).
And have patience...many many patience.

When i have some skill with the soldering iron machine and learn a little english to understand 100% you guys say in your awesomeness guides,
I start my own project.

For now...learn learn learn and watch videos and try to understand day by day.

mmm the voltage is OK, but 2000mAh is a little low.
assuming the total consumition of your portable will be lower than 2000mAh (console+scree+another stuff) you will get less than 1 hour play time.

with my portable, I get arround 2:30 hours of playtime (6600 mAh batteries), well, my screen is a little power hungry also wanted a decent playtime, that is why I had to use bigger batteries.

in your case, I would try tu ose a larger battery or at least place 2x 2000mAh batteries in parallel. (2000+2000=4000)
