Wow! This is a great piece of work, Ashen. I'm really amazed with the quality.

Screen I used is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-4-3-LCD-Ca ... 0565575929" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Insides:

Looks a bit messy in those pics and they were taken a bit before it was actually finished so not everything was crammed in there at the time, most stuff was though.

I'm currently working on a rev. 2 model, that's about 1cm thinner:

Zenloc is also working on one that uses an unmodded PSP case:

I haven't seen you post in forever man, though you'd disappeared from these boards. You definitely need to join the DD'less GC fun.

I did... I swing by every once in a while when I hear about something big, like this project.

YOU CAN'T QUITE THE INTERNET.

Get on MR, it's tons a' fun, especially for non-modders.

/blush

I followed your project as well as a few others projects to make a GC DD replacement. I never really was a big poster on forums like these, but I sat and silently watched the progress you guys all made for a long time. Always hoping something would materialize. Once I realized that progress had slowed/halted I got together with some members of the GC scene and came up with the next best thing. Nowhere near as impressive as the stuff you guys worked on for sure, but the adaption of Wii modchips to the GC proved functional, which is all I ever wanted. :D

I'm not biased to one forum or the other, but as SS stated above. Lots of intelligent discussion goes on over at MR about the GC and ways for us to make it better/smaller. If you're still interested in modding that is.

Whats the resolution of the screen like compared to a 3.5inch one? This project has rekindled my portablising urge after my luthiery related break :lol:

That particular screen says its: Resolution:1440(H) x RGB x 272(V)

Its not a true widescreen screen though. It just takes a 4:3 image and stretches it, which is o.k. with me.

As far as image quality goes I couldn't be happier, the screen provides a bright crisp image even though its only a composite signal. All text is fully readable without strain on the eyes either.
